Women took a great part in the government of the ancient Church. They were made
deaconesses and after they had attained the level of widow - a word used to represent
a particular stage of membership in the Church - they sat in council with the bishop.
Women have every right to take part in and even govern the administration of the church.
Ordination in the Church of the Rose and Cross follows the Apostolic Tradition of
ordaining only men as deacons, priests and bishops. Women may be admitted to the lay
office of deaconess and are active in various aspects of the Church’s ministry.
